POM originates from methanol and can be made from renewable energy sources such as biogas or carbon dioxide emissions. POM ECO-B is an option that can be applied to any brand in Celanese POM product portfolio. By using the Mass balance process, the benefits of using renewable methanol can be allocated to specific products to help customers achieve their Sustainable Development Goals. On the basis of polymers, the POM ECO-B option can use waste raw materials to provide up to 97% renewable ingredients and reduce the carbon dioxide footprint by up to 50%. In a broader context, the inherent characteristics of POM (such as high stiffness, thermal stability, sliding characteristics, and wear resistance) help manufacture more durable and lightweight parts, thereby enhancing the sustainability of many applications.
